The Atrium were fantastic. We had a brilliant rapport with the co-ordinator and all of the regular staff there too. Everyone made an effort to get to know us whenever we popped in to check stuff out and that really helped when we were served by the same folk on the day itself. Given that we were intent on planning things ourselves, we had friends in doing the flowers for the ceremony in the gorgeous Atrium space. When we went in, it was made clear that all the bits and bobs that the restaurant had in term of candles etc would be made available to us if needed. It was so reassuring to be accommodated so well.
The Atrium is a well known restaurant and the food was spectacular. We were blown away by the tasting meal, (with seemingly endless FREE wine) and the meal on the day didn't disappoint. The staff were keen to take comments from my chef husband during the tasting which we noted were taken on board. Unfortunately, our co-ordinator went away on maternity leave a month before the wedding which stressed us out a wee bit but it wasn't a problem given we'd already built a relationship with the manager anyway. Most of the details were already sorted but he helped to guide us into that final couple of weeks! The venue itself is beautiful and suits a contemporary (but not too modern) wedding.
We had: Ceremony, prosecco reception for all and then a meal for our (50!) most loved ones. We also had the opportunity to have our photos taken on the roof but numbers were limited due to h&s reasons, (naturally). Following the Atrium we dropped into the Blue Blazer pub for a few drinks and were treated immaculately, (but that's expected given that we're regulars). We then took the walk to the Counting House, (above the pear tree). This is a gorgeous venue and has a 30's art nouveau feel to it without being too over the top. It ha 3 main rooms: a bar, a lounge and a main hall. This was ideal for us as we had the buffet in the lounge and band in the main hall. It really suited the mixed age crowd in that the oldies could escape from the noise in the lounge when the band, (friends of the groom) started up.
The Counting house is a ridiculously good deal: £225 room hire, £100 to allow us to do our own food, (they have a buffet deal too ranging from £6.50-£8.50 a head) and £250 bar deposit, (getting x amount back for every y spent. We didn't even note the numbers because we knew we'd do it!) They also had projectors, dj decks, lights etc avauilable for hire (at a very low rates). We didn't deal alot with the staff except for the ones who booked us so we couldn't comment of the bar but we didn't have complaints from our friends. Our only complaint about the Counting house was that they only take bookings 6 months ahead which meant we couldn't be sure of our booking until then.
