Oran Mor is a converted church, in the heart of Glasgow's West End. This venue was ideal for us as we were to be married at Dowanvale Free Church of Scotland (Partick) and wanted to have pictures taken in the Botanic Gardens. I had walked past the venue many times as a student when it was derelict and often thought how beautiful it would be if converted!
The venue was beautiful, as we had a glorious sunny day which streamed through the stain glass windows.
Staff were excellent during the planning stages, we were even permitted to provide our own wine (charged corkage which was pretty steep), but was cheaper than having their house wines. We also had any unopened bottles returned to us.
The bar wasn't too expensive and the food was great. There was plenty room for dancing, the only downside being the lack of air conditioning on the day, it was about 25 degrees and the room was roasting.
Access was good - for those less mobile, there is a separate entrance for older relatives and anyone requiring disabled access.
Staff ensured that all the favours were placed n the tables, candle settings etc. I did not see the tables prior to the day and it was better than I expected. The staff ensured that everything went smoothly on the day.
