Wedding Bands / Entertainment

Getting the entertainment right at your wedding can help your party go with a bang. There are a fair few options to consider for your evening. If it's a traditional Scottish wedding that you are having a ceilidh band is a great option. A ceilidh band is a sure fire way to get a party going. Ceilidh dancing is a fairly common activity in Scotland and is taught in school so most people will know a dance or two. Although even if you're guests don't know the dances a ceilidh band will often call out the dance and talk your guests through the movements. It's best to check with the band beforehand though.

A ceilidh band will normally cost you between £300 and £1500. The number of people in the band you choose is going to affect the price. A three piece accordion, snare and guitar band will normally cost a lot less than a 6 piece with a full drum kit and fiddles. If you have your heart set on a specific band then it's best to try and get them booked as early as possible as they can get booked up months and even years in advance.

If a ceilidh band is not for you then a DJ may be an option. With a DJ you get the option of playing songs that everyone will know. Beforehand make sure you arrange with the DJ if you are going to have a set list arranged prior to the evening or if the DJ can play what he or she wants. A DJ will know what works and what doesn't with a crowd so you have the option of leaving the music choice to him / her.

When choosing the song for your first dance bear in mind that if you have a wedding band you'll have to get them to play it (so find out if they know it) or if you have a DJ make sure he or she has the song to hand.
